On March 12th, our partner Unizar held a technical seminar on “sustainable production and supply chain of stone fruit” at the Faculty of Veterinary science in Zaragoza. The seminar was chaired by Rosa Oria and had as guest speakers Luis Miguel Albarrán (Director General of Food and Agriculture Development of the Government of Aragón) and Jesús Val (Director of the Aula Dei Experimental Station of CSIC).

Following the keynote speeches, the main aspects and actions of the Zero Residues project were presented by partners: Maria Eugenia Venturini (Unizar) provided a general overview of the project; Javier Arizmendi (Zerya) explained the certification process as well as the mobile application to predict the outbreak of diseases; Xavier Nacher (Seipasa) explained the works carried out at the experimental farms of the project; Sara Remón (PCTAD) commented on the post-harvest technologies being currently used; Eva Campo (Unizar) explained the work carried out to train fruit tasters in order to learn how to recognise and differentiate between flavours, scents and other variables; Esther Lafuente (Finca Valleluz y Lafuente Tomey) told us about the experiences in situ of the fruit production; finally, Sven Kallen (Transfer) presented the dissemination strategies and the market opportunities for the zero residues stone fruit.

The event was a success in terms of attendance, counting approximately 50 people, mostly researchers and students of related disciplines.
