24.03.2014 By: UNIZAR

The 20th of March 2014, our colleagues Rosa Oria and Maria Eugenia Venturini from UNIZAR met with representatives of the Superior Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) and the Center for Research and Food Technology of Aragón (CITA) with the objective to start a joint project.

During the meeting, they discussed various related aspects on the production of ¨Melocotón de Calanda¨, which is the appellation of origin of peach fruit grown in South Aragón, and several studies were planned that concern increasing its quality and imperishability. After the meeting the researchers visited the experimental peach plantations at the CITA facilities, where the genetic improvements trails take place.

In the pictures we can see Rosa and Maria Eugenia on the experimental plantations, accompanied by Jesus Val (director of the Experimental Department of Aula Dei of CSIC) and José Manuel Alonso (researcher at the Department of Horticulture Research of CITA).
